About the Role
Aftershoot is building the definitive AI platform for professional photographers. We're looking for a Content & Community Lead to own how Aftershoot shows up in the world — its voice, its stories, its organic presence, and its relationship with the photographer community. This is a brand-building role as much as a content role.
This is a senior leadership role. You'll build and lead a team of content, SEO, social, and copy specialists and be accountable for Aftershoot's brand and organic presence at scale.
💼 What you’ll do:
Brand Strategy & Voice: Own how Aftershoot communicates - its personality, tone, positioning expression, and the principles that govern every word we write. Build and maintain the brand book for voice and messaging. Be the internal authority on what sounds like Aftershoot and what doesn't. Ensure Growth, and Creative are all working from the same foundation - and that the brand stays coherent as we expand into new products and audiences.
Brand Campaigns: Own the narrative and messaging strategy behind Aftershoot's brand campaigns. Define the story we're telling, the audience we're reaching, and the impact we're driving. Work with the Creative Lead on execution - but the brief, the idea, and the strategic intent are yours.
Content & SEO: Own the strategy that makes Aftershoot the most trusted content destination for professional photographers. Accountable for organic traffic growth, content quality, and ensuring every piece of content serves a measurable purpose in the photographer's journey. SEO is a core growth lever - own the strategy that makes us discoverable at every stage of the funnel.
Social & Community: Own Aftershoot's presence and relationship with the photographer community across every platform and forum we're in. Accountable for turning that presence into a genuine growth channel - not just an audience but an active community that drives awareness, advocacy, and trial. Platform strategy and community building are yours. Partner relationships are owned by the partnerships team - you work with them on content angles and community activation.
Copywriting: Own the copywriting function as a strategic output. Accountable for the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of all written marketing output across ads, email, web, and campaigns. The voice standard you set is what the copywriting function executes against.
Owned Media: Own Aftershoot's owned media strategy - newsletter, long-form, video editorial. Define what we publish, how often, and why - and ensure it builds a loyal audience that converts to trial over time.
Team & Function Building: Own the growth and performance of the Content & Community function. Accountable for building the team, the processes, and the culture that scales as the product line and audience expand.

🫂 What You’ll Bring
8+ years in brand, content, or editorial roles with at least 3 years leading a team
Have built a brand voice from scratch or meaningfully evolved one - not just maintained it
Have grown organic channels into measurable growth drivers - not just managed them
Strong enough across brand strategy, editorial, SEO, social, and copy to set direction and hold a high bar across all of them
Have conceptualised and led brand campaigns - not just content calendars
Have worked in or alongside photographer, creative, or prosumer communities
Comfortable in a PLG environment where brand and content are accountable to trial, not just awareness
