What’s Brewing

At Blank Street, we’re redefining hospitality through thoughtful design, exceptional coffee, and seamless customer experiences. As our Retail Hardware & Systems Senior Associate, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our café technology is always running smoothly—from the POS to the in-store cafe Wi-Fi. You’ll be hands-on in fixing field hardware issues, managing tech projects for new store openings, and driving performance through smart, scalable systems.

This role is based out of our Brooklyn HQ and reports to the Senior Store Delivery & Facilities Manager. You’ll travel to our key markets (including D.C. and Boston) to support in-field operations, troubleshoot tech issues, and ensure every Blank Street café is optimized for success.

What You’ll Own

Hospitality Tech Operations & Support

  • Serve as the go-to expert for in-store technology, ensuring all hospitality equipment and devices are functioning at peak performance
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of field hardware (Square POS systems, ticketing printers, iPads, network equipment, sound and security systems, etc)
  • Provide rapid, hands-on support for tech issues in cafes and HQ—be it a faulty router, laggy POS, or integration hiccup
  • Build and deliver technical playbooks and training for café teams, ensuring staff can quickly resolve common issues and escalate appropriately

Project Management for Store Tech

  • Lead the technology workstream for new café launches—from site preparation, coordinating with vendors to on-site setup and testing
  • Collaborate closely with the Store Design and Operations teams to align on café layout, equipment needs, and opening timelines
  • Track and manage the technology lifecycle for all hospitality hardware, from procurement and setup to decommissioning and upgrades
  • Maintain detailed project plans, checklists, and reporting to ensure milestones are hit on time and on budget

Infrastructure & Systems Oversight

  • Oversee all in-store and HQ hardware, including laptops, tablets, network devices, POS terminals, printers, and more
  • Develop and maintain café technology planograms, ensuring consistent network visibility and system reliability across locations
  • Coordinate system updates and new feature rollouts with minimal disruption to operations
  • Maintain centralized documentation, inventory logs, and preventative maintenance records

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Act as a connector between Operations, Digital Product, and external vendors to deliver seamless tech integrations and feature launches
  • Regularly assess tech stack performance and recommend improvements to enhance the guest experience and store productivity
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure SLAs are met for support, repairs, and maintenance

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Technology support, field hardware maintenance, or systems administration—hospitality or retail experience strongly preferred
  • Proven project management experience—you're comfortable juggling timelines, vendors, and cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, POS systems, and hospitality tech (ex: Square, security cameras, network providers, etc)
  • Ability to roll up your sleeves and solve problems on the ground
  • Exceptional communication skills and a knack for translating tech speak into café-friendly language
  • Familiarity with: Square, Jamf, Zendesk, Asana, Google Suite, Slack, Apple, Notion
