We are expanding our global operations in the freight and cargo domain and we're seeking a senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Director level.
This role is designed for an experienced professional coming directly from the global shipping, freight forwarding, express logistics or cargo aviation industry, with deep knowledge of revenue management, pricing, and operational processes of major carriers (FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc.).
The SME will play a key leadership role in shaping Fetcherr’s freight pricing solutions, serving as the bridge between industry best practices and product innovation. You will work closely with Product, Data, Engineering, and Program teams, and directly support strategic customer engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Industry Expertise & Leadership
- Serve as Fetcherr’s senior authority on freight, cargo, and express logistics business models.
- Bring deep understanding of revenue management, pricing methodologies, cost structures, and operational constraints across global logistics carriers.
- Translate industry standards and pain points into product direction, model calibration logic, and implementation guidelines.
- Lead discovery, requirement gathering, and solution-design discussions with enterprise clients.
Client Engagement
- Represent Fetcherr as the domain expert in high level meetings with global customers.
- Validate scope definitions, operational flows, and pricing use cases during pre sales and project initiation.
- Provide ongoing guidance during development, onboarding, calibration, and rollout phases to ensure solution accuracy and alignment with customer expectations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Data Engineering, Data Science, and Solution Architecture teams to embed domain logic into Fetcherr’s AI pricing models.
- Define business rules, operational constraints, revenue levers, and fallback mechanisms relevant to freight and cargo pricing.
- Support internal teams with training and knowledge transfer sessions on freight RM, pricing, and operational workflows.
Requirements
Industry Background
- 12 - 15 years in the freight, express logistics, cargo aviation, or global forwarding industry.
- Direct experience in Revenue Management, Pricing, Network Planning, or Commercial Operations - mandatory.
- Hands on familiarity with operational workflows of large carriers such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, or global freight forwarders.
- Background in digital transformation within the logistics industry - advantage
- Background in information systems within the logistics industry - advantage
- Prior work with SaaS/technology companies or innovation teams - advantage.
Professional Skills
- Strong analytical and commercial mindset, with the ability to explain RM and pricing logic to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience working in matrix or cross-functional environments.
- Ability to break down complex commercial problems into clear, structured requirements.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
Leadership
- Experience influencing executive stakeholders internally and externally.
- Ability to lead domain strategy, coach internal teams, and serve as the senior point of reference for all freight-related questions.
