About the Role

As the Head of Legal, you'll serve as a trusted legal advisor to the executive team and will be responsible for maintaining and improving our legal practices. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and work closely with the Founder and Board of Directors.

You will gain exposure to all facets of the legal function including corporate governance, commercial contracts, employment, compliance, product development, intellectual property, and privacy law. You will play a critical role that sets the legal framework and foundation for GlossGenius as we enter our next phase of growth.

What You’ll Do

Set the overall strategy for GlossGenius regarding all legal matters and ensure that all practices, policies, and decisions are consistent with our values

Navigate legal infrastructure pertaining to risk management and value creation for the company

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of complex commercial contracts

Manage corporate matters including shareholder and board materials, financings, employee documentation and other materials

Create standard form agreements and legal processes to ensure consistency across the company

Partner with internal business stakeholders on new product development, strategic initiatives, and product partnership deals

Serve as an internal legal advisor on labor and employment, tax, financing, litigation, and real estate matters

What We’re Looking For

A JD, admission to a state bar, and 6+ years of experience working with a high growth technology company; either in-house or at a law firm

Deep knowledge of general corporate matters and contract law

Deep experience interfacing with all levels of a company including entry-level employees, senior executives, and members of the Board of Directors

Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills

An appetite to learn new areas of the legal function that you previously didn’t have exposure to

Experience providing tactical, day-to day legal support while also having the ability to zoom out and think strategically

The starting base salary for this role in New York, California, and Washington is between $190,000-$265,000 + target equity + benefits. The base salary offered is dependent upon many factors including skills, experience, location, and education. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in GlossGenius’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within our total rewards offering.
