The Job in a nutshell

You will take ownership of GoStudent’s finance function at a critical stage of its evolution.

This is a role for someone who can operate at two levels at once: in the details and at the decision-making table. You will ensure financial accuracy and discipline while actively shaping how the business scales next.

You will not just report the numbers — you will connect them to reality, challenge assumptions, and influence decisions at the highest level.

The Job in a nutshell

Own and lead the finance function end-to-end
You are accountable for the full finance landscape — accounting, FP&A, tax, treasury, and consolidation across multiple entities. You ensure accuracy, reliability, and transparency in all financial data.

Build the financial backbone for the next stage of growth
You connect accounting outputs to budgeting, unit economics, and strategic planning. You turn financial data into actionable insight that drives company-wide decisions.

Partner with the business at the highest level
You work closely with the CEO and leadership team, ensuring finance is embedded in every critical decision. You challenge, guide, and enable — not just report.

Lead and elevate the finance team
You structure, develop, and align a multi-disciplinary team across entities. You create clarity, ownership, and resilience in how the team operates.

Strengthen processes, systems, and governance
You identify gaps, improve efficiency, and implement scalable systems and controls. You reduce dependency on individuals and build a finance function that performs consistently under pressure.

Your profile

You combine operational depth with business understanding
You have personally closed books, managed audits, and handled multi-entity consolidation — and you understand what drives the numbers behind them.

You are hands-on and outcome-driven
You don’t stay at a conceptual level. You dive into details when needed and take ownership of execution.

You bring structure to complexity
You know how to prioritise in fast-changing environments, bring order to ambiguity, and build what does not yet exist.

You lead through clarity and accountability
You have experience leading finance teams through change and know how to align people, processes, and expectations.

You are a strong communicator
You translate financial complexity into clear insights that influence business decisions.

Must-have experience

• Proven track record in senior finance roles (VP Finance, CFO, or equivalent)
• Hands-on experience with month-end closing, audit management, and multi-entity consolidation
• Strong experience in financial planning, reporting, and business partnering
• Deep knowledge of Austrian or German accounting standards (UGB/HGB); IFRS is a plus
• Experience leading and developing finance teams in dynamic environments
• Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-change contexts

Nice to have

• Experience in tech, scale-up, or multi-market environments
• Background in FP&A or treasury in addition to accounting
• Experience with ERP systems and modern finance tooling
• Exposure to international finance structures
