About the role
LemFi are looking for a Head of Insurance to launch and grow our insurance business. This is a critical role at the intersection of product, partnerships, and strategy. You will own the P&L for insurance, build senior relationships with carriers and partners, and lay the foundation for insurance to become a core pillar of our company.
This is both a strategic and hands-on role. You will set the direction, negotiate partnerships, and drive execution in a 0-1 environment. As the business scales, you will grow and lead a team, shaping how insurance becomes part of our broader offering.
What you’ll do
- Own the strategy, execution, and P&L for the insurance business
- Build and manage relationships with carriers, reinsurers, brokers, and distribution partners especially in the UK
- Negotiate and deliver commercial agreements that create long-term value
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Design to launch customer-focused insurance products
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, working with legal and risk teams
- Monitor performance and unit economics, optimising as the business scales
- Represent insurance as a strategic growth area internally, aligning with company leadership
- Hire, mentor, and lead a growing team as the function expands
- Track industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to stay ahead of the market
What you’ll bring
- 8+ years of experience in the insurance industry, ideally with experience in a top consulting firm or Insurtech partnerships role.
- Proven track record in structuring and managing partnerships with insurers and intermediaries in the UK
- Experience owning commercial outcomes or managing a P&L
- Strong understanding of insurance products, distribution models, and regulatory environment
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills with senior stakeholders
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, balancing strategy with execution
- Leadership skills and ambition to grow into a broader GM role as the business scales
- Commercially sharp, data-driven, and customer-focused mindset
What success looks like in six months
- Secure partnerships with at least one carrier and one distribution partner
- Launch the first insurance product with measurable traction
- Establish compliant frameworks with legal and regulatory support
Demonstrate positive unit economics or a clear path to scale - Build the foundations of the insurance team and roadmap for growth
