Team Overview:
Masterworks Advisers (a subsidiary of Masterworks) is the first registered investment advisory dedicated to art investment education and advice.
Role Overview:
As a Senior Advisor / Team Lead for Masterworks Advisers, you will be responsible for building trusted relationships with UHNW prospective investors and converting them into long-term clients. This is a revenue-generating role - you will establish credibility pre-investment through high-touch relationship development (art gallery visits, private events, curated dinners, etc.), educate prospects on alternative asset allocation, and ultimately guide them toward investment decisions in blue-chip artwork.
This is a player/coach role – you will mentor and lead a team of advisors, setting the standard for relationship excellence and consultative investment advice.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Build and nurture relationships with prospective UHNW investors, establishing trust and credibility before they make their first investment
- Advise clients on allocating a portion of their broader portfolio to alternative investments, with a focus on contemporary art
- Conduct personalized portfolio consultations to understand each client’s overall financial picture, investment goals, liquidity needs, and risk tolerance
- Convert high-touch relationship development into concrete investment recommendations, supporting clients across multiple investment cycles
Experiential Client Engagement
- Accompany clients to contemporary art galleries, auctions, and cultural events across NYC
- Host and attend client dinners, private viewings, and exclusive events
- Welcome prospects to Masterworks’ private gallery on the Upper East Side and lead tailored art experiences
- Represent Masterworks with polish and professionalism in high-end social and cultural settings
- Ideate, design, and test new relationship-building strategies to help uncover new growth vectors and increase conversion rates
Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and support a team of advisors, setting a high standard for client service and relationship management
- Share best practices on UHNW relationship building, portfolio construction, and client communication
- Collaborate with senior leadership to refine advisory processes and client strategy
Qualifications:
Required
- 8+ years of experience in financial advising, private banking, or alternative investments, or similar relationship-driven roles.
- Proven track record of building new relationships and managing long-term relationships with UHNW and HNW clients
- Strong understanding of portfolio construction and alternative asset allocation
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trust and credibility with sophisticated investors
- Results-driven, competitive mentality with demonstrated ability to close business
- Comfort operating in high-touch, relationship-driven environments
- Based in NYC or willing to be in NYC regularly to engage with prospects in person
- Prior leadership or team-management experience
- Series 65 license from FINRA (or ability to obtain)
Preferred
- Experience with alternative investments (art, private equity, real assets, or hedge funds
- Strong interest in contemporary art and cultural markets
- CFP, CFA, or similar credentials (not required)
