An Impact Manager at rePurpose leads a portfolio of impact projects, strengthens PCR value chains, manages partner relationships, delivers high-quality impact reporting for clients, and drives continuous improvement of rePurpose’s traceability and social safeguards systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Impact Delivery (Lead 2-3 Projects): - Independently manage 2-3 plastic recovery projects across geographies. - Ensure monthly TOR cycles (collection, transport, destination, sorting logs) are completed accurately and on time. - Establish leaner processes to minimize time bandwidth needed from partner and project teams. - Troubleshoot operational gaps and drive corrective actions with Impact Associates and partners. - Conduct periodic field visits and verification audits.
- Develop & Strengthen PCR Value Chains: - Lead initiatives to build and scale Post Consumer Recyclates value chains within new and partner geographies. - Lead capacity building and responsible sourcing practices aligned with Repurpose Impact Code and international benchmarks. - Map supply chains, assess recycler capabilities, and design traceability workflows from collection to PCR output. - Develop ethical supply chain standards and implementation in collaboration with Social Impact team. - Work with Product and tech teams to strengthen the inhouse tech platform to enable multi-scale impact. - Develop SOPs, standards for PCR quality and traceability. - Support qualification of recyclers, aggregators, and logistics partners.
- Client-Facing Impact Reporting: - Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual impact reports for clients. - Translate operational data into compelling narratives that demonstrate verified impact. - Support client queries and participate in client calls when needed.
- Partner Onboarding & Relationship Management: - Identify, assess, and onboard new impact partners for PET/LDPE or VPR sourcing. - Facilitate setup of traceability systems, social compliance requirements, and operational SOPs. - Build trusted relationships and provide ongoing guidance and capacity-building.
- Team Guidance & Capability Building: - Mentor and guide Impact Associates/Senior Associates in project delivery, traceability reviews, and partner communication. - Support prioritization, problem-solving, and professional development of team members. - Model high accountability, structured thinking, and Radical Candor.
- Represent rePurpose & Build External Visibility: - Identify opportunities to represent rePurpose at conferences, events, working groups, and webinars. - Contribute to thought leadership on circular economy, traceability, and social safeguards.
- Continuous Learning & Innovation: - Actively build new skills in traceability, recycling technologies, standards, audit frameworks, and data tools. - Bring external best practices to improve rePurpose’s systems, tools, and partner experience.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong analytical & critical reasoning skills; ability to review data-heavy operational documentation to drive meaningful decisions.
- Experience in leading projects with recognized project management framework across project lifecycle.
- Excellent Excel/Sheets proficiency (pivots, lookups, dashboards, data validation).
- Understanding of Recyclables (PET/ LDPE) supply chains, recycling technologies, and material flow documentation.
- Ability to identify data manipulation, tampering, or inconsistencies.
- Strong report writing, presentation skills to translate technical work & ideas into easy to understand content.
- Experience developing SOPs, checklists, and process controls.
- Comfort engaging with digital tools (MIS, reTrace, traceability platforms).
Required Domain Knowledge
- Experience in waste management, circular economy, recycling, EPR, or sustainability operations.
- Understanding of various plastics, their value chain, recycling process/methodologies, and challenges/issues with the industry.
- Understanding of informal sector dynamics and partner types: collection centers, aggregators, logistics providers, MRFs, recyclers.
- Familiarity with social safeguards, safety protocols, worker welfare compliance, and global standards.
- Prior exposure to audits, verification cycles, or on-ground due diligence.
- Familiarity with the industry leaders and network

Technical Tools
- Knowledge of advanced office suite tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Dashboards.
- Project management tools like Asana will be of advantage
- Ability to learn quickly and deploy independently the technical tools available publicly
Qualifications
- 4–7 years of experience in sustainability, waste management, environmental operations, or circular economy projects.
- Graduate/postgraduate in Environmental Science, Engineering, Urban Planning, Development, or related fields.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
Location Preference
The preference for this role is for Bangalore-based candidates. Our Bangalore office is located at WeWork Prestige Central, Ground Floor, 36, Infantry Rd, Tasker Town, Shivaji Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560001, where the team meets twice a week to co-work. We’re a truly global team, headquartered in New York City, with members across Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, London, Nairobi, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, and Jakarta.
